Save Kew Dojo!

Sensei Perry requests that members and friends of the Kew Dojo on Sandycombe Road write or email the Richmond Borough Planning Department and object to the application to redevelop the site on the grounds of loss of amenity.

Unfortunately the developers plans for a new dojo only allow for headroom of 9ft (3m). Sport England recommend a height of 14ft (4.5m approx.). We could not safely use the proposed new dojo so must object and ask for the plans to be altered.

Martial Arts have been practised at the Kew Dojo for over 60 years and thousands of children and adults have trained there over the years. 300 children a week use the current facility. We can not afford to lose this unique local amenity.

The Council have clear guidelines on planning applications and loss of amenity is an established reason for rejecting an application. This argument is strongest when lots of people make their views heard. Every letter and email will be counted!

Click envprotection@richmond.gov.uk and send in your objection quoting reference 08/0673/FUL. Please describe how important the dojo is for you and your children.

Letters can be sent to:

Development Control Manager

Environment Directorate

London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames

44 York Street

Twickenham, TW1 3BZ

A standard letter will be available at the dojo or downloaded here.

You can also express your views via the Council's website:
